Audi Cup 2009

Boca partió hoy a Munich, en donde participará de la Copa Audi buscando volver a los primeros planos a nivel mundial. Será el inicio formal del segundo ciclo del Coco Basile y enfrentará nada menos que al Manchester United. A pesar de que ya no quedan entradas para ese partido, la marca Boca bajó después de un semestre sin títulos. Esta Copa podría volver a poner a Boca en la elite. En las apuestas, todo a favor de los europeos.
Los partidos se jugaran en el Allianz Arena, donde se jugó la final del Mundial, y ya no quedan entradas para ninguna semifinal. Sólo algunas (van de 12 a 60 euros) para la final y el partido por el tercer puesto, que serán al día siguiente. Por esta Copa, Boca facturará alrededor de 400.000 euros, más la imagen que deje en el viejo continente, algo que interesa mucho en el club. Luego, el Xeneize jugará un amistoso en Austria contra el Linz Lask (el 3 de agosto) y dos en Grecia, contra el Aris Salónica (el 5) y el AEK de Atenas (el 8). Boca busca ritmo, euros y atraer todas las miradas. Volver a la elite.

The Audi Cup 2009 – a sporting highlight for the 100th birthday of the Audi brand: football fans can look forward to a very special highlight in the summer break. At the invitation of AUDI AG, the teams from FC Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Manchester United and Club Atlético Boca Juniors will be playing for the Audi Cup 2009 in a two-day tournament at the end of July.

Football stars’ get-together in Munich’s Allianz Arena
On 29 July, Wayne Rooney and Manchester United will meet the Argentinean champions Boca Juniors. In the second semi-final AC Milan with its two exceptional Brazilian players, Ronaldinho and Pato, will try to put hosts FC Bayern Munich and midfield artist Franck Ribéry out of the competition. One day later, on 30 July, the game for third place will take place first. This will be followed by the final for the Audi Cup 2009 title.

The tournament of the superlatives will be played over two days. There will be two games to watch on each day in the Allianz Arena. The Audi Cup 2009 will start with the semi-finals, followed by the game for third place and the final.

The Audi Cup 2009, which is being held for the first time, is comprised of four games, so each team will appear twice in Munich’s Allianz Arena. Boca Juniors from Buenos Aires, where superstar Diego Maradona ended his career, will play against Manchester United for a place into the final, while hosts Bayern Munich will attempt to get there by beating seven-time Champions League winners AC Milan. One day later the winner of the Audi Cup 2009 will be decided.

Club Atlético Boca Juniors

The club from the La Boca barrio in Buenos Aires are the current Argentinean champions. Since the club was founded in 1905, Boca Juniors have won the national championship a total of 23 times. Diego Armando Maradona wore the blue and yellow Boca jersey for three years in all. Boca Juniors have won the Copa Libertadores, the South American equivalent of the Champions League, six times. When they last won it in 2007, Juan Román Riquelme was already in the team. The Argentinean national team member is a formidable free-kick specialist who used to play in Spain, for FC Barcelona and FC Villarreal.
